Christmas day DFAC meals

Christmas Day meals will be served at the following Fort Campbell dining facilities Friday:

1st Brigade Combat Team DFAC will be serving brunch from 9:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Supper will be served from 5 until 6:30 p.m. For more information, call 270-798-6331.

101st Combat Aviation Brigade’s Son Cafe will be serving lunch from noon until 1:30 p.m. at 7911 Thunder Blvd. For more information, call 280-412-7180 or 412-7181.

The Fort Campbell holiday services and events are as follows:

Protestant

Thursday – Samoan Christmas service and children’s program, 7:30 p.m. at Hope Chapel

Dec. 31 – Watchnight service at 9 p.m. at Community Chapel and at 10 p.m. at Hope Chapel

Catholic

Thursday – Children’s Christmas Pageant at 3:15 p.m.; Vigil Mass at 4 p.m., Mass at 8 p.m. at Soldier’s Chapel

Friday – Christmas Day Mass, 10 a.m. at Soldier’s Chapel

Dec. 31 – Mary Mother of God New Year’s Mass, 8 p.m. at Soldier’s Chapel

Operation Safe Ride

On New Year’s Eve, the Provost Marshal Office will be conducting Operation Safe Ride from 8 p.m. until 4 a.m. Soldiers and Families who have been drinking can be dropped off at Gate 4 and the PMO will drive them to their residence or barracks so long as they are not driving. This ensures the residents make it home safely and without risk of DUI.

Road construction

Fort Campbell’s Directorate of Public Works will close Indiana Avenue between Normandy and Screaming Eagle boulevards Jan. 8, 9 and 10 to safely complete a crosswalk project.

A detour will be posted and will be routing traffic through the road behind Dryer Field House.

Gate 4 closed

Fort Campbell’s Directorate of Public Works will close Gate 4 for maintenance from 9 p.m. Jan. 11 until 4 a.m. Jan. 12. The closure will affect inbound and outbound traffic. Gate 3 will be operational while Gate 4 is closed for maintenance. Visitor passes may be obtained from the Gate 7 Visitor Control Center.

Blood donor month

This January, during National Blood Donor Month, the American Red Cross encourages people to roll up their sleeves to give blood to help maintain a sufficient blood supply for patients.

Blood donations will be accepted at Fort Campbell’s Byrd Health Clinic, 7973 Strike Blvd., from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Jan. 8.

Other locations include:

•1 until 6 p.m. Jan. 4 at University Heights Academy, 1300 Academy Drive, Hopkinsville;

•noon until 6 p.m. Jan. 5 at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 1698 Canton Road, Cadiz;

•8 a.m. until noon Jan. 1 and 10:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Jan. 4 and Jan. 11 at 1760 Madison St., Clarksville.

The Red Cross encourages eligible donors to resolve to give blood regularly, beginning in January. Donors with all blood types are needed, especially those with types AB, O, B negative and A negative.

Fort Campbell’s Soldier for Life--Transition Assistance Program publishes military-friendly employment opportunities to assist transitioning services members, retirees and their Family members in their job search. Digital Photography Contest

The 2015 Army Digital Photography Contest will accept submissions through Dec. 31. There are two divisions for participants – the Military Division for active-duty military and Other Eligible Participants, including Family members, retirees and Department of the Army civilians. Participants may enter three entries per category and there are seven categories: animals, design elements, digital darkroom, military life, nature and landscapes, people and still life. Company-Level Basketball

The MWR Sports and Fitness Office is taking registration for teams that would like to participate in Season 1 Basketball – open to company-level and women’s teams. Company-level team players must be active-duty military. Women’s team players must have a valid ID card and be age 18 and older. The deadline to register is Jan. 4 with play beginning Jan. 12.

Travel Program

Joint Services Travel Program has implemented a booking website designed specifically for military and Department of Defense patrons. Patrons can access this site anytime and book flights, car rentals, hotel stays and cruises, as well as search for other travel information.

Certified travel agents are available to help during normal business hours at Leisure Travel Services, located in the Exchange Mall. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Visit www.fortcampbell.mwrtvl.com.

GATE Access

All unescorted, non-Department of Defense ID card holding visitors, contractors, sub-contractors, vendors, suppliers and service providers must successfully pass a criminal background check before they are issued a visitor’s pass.

Escorted visitors with valid photo ID (state driver license, passport) traveling in the same vehicle as a DOD ID card holder (CAC, dependent ID card, retiree ID card) are not required to obtain a pass.

Unescorted visitors who are not traveling in the same vehicle as a DOD ID card holder (CAC, dependent ID card, retiree ID card) must obtain a visitor’s pass from a Visitor Control Center for the duration of their visit.

Contractors, sub-contractors, vendors, suppliers and service providers must obtain a one-day pass or may voluntarily choose to participate in the RAPIDGate program.

Visitor Control Center Hours of Operation:

Gate 4: Open 5 a.m. until 9 p.m. daily.

Gate 7: Open 24 hours.

LBL Closings

Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area has closed nine wildlife refuges to human entry and all activities including hunting, fishing and boating. These areas will remain closed through March 15.

The wildlife refuge closures include portions of Duncan Bay, Smith Bay and Rushing Bay on Kentucky Lake; Fulton and Honker Bays on Lake Barkley; the western one-third of Energy Lake; and Long Creek Refuge at the back of Elbow Bay. These areas are marked with buoys or signs. Hematite Lake and Honker Lake, two inland bodies of water, also will be closed through March 15 for fishing and boating.
