Office closed

The central issue facility will be closed through Friday in order to conduct a 100 percent wall-to-wall inventory. CIF will resume normal business hours Aug. 31. If assistance is required during this time contact Kevin Speaks at 270-798-3712 or 798-6245.

Road Work

Work continues on William C. Lee Road from Bastogne Avenue to Tennessee Avenue/101st Airborne Division Road. The road will be widened from two lanes to three lanes. The speed limit is being lowered from 35 mph to 25 during construction. Drivers are urged to use caution.

Hispanic Heritage Month

SHARP symposium

The 2015 Fort Campbell SHARP Symposium, presented by 52nd Ordnance Group (Explosive Ordnance Disposal), will be held from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Sept. 18 at the Staff Sgt. Glenn H. English Jr. Education Center, Auditorium Room 151, 202 Bastogne Ave.

Topics will include “Learnings from the Vanderbilt Rape Trial” presented by Jessica Labenberg, Sexual Assault Center, Nashville, 9-11 a.m.; “Collaborating with the FBI Victim Assistance Program” presented by FBI Victim Specialist Rachel Pierce and K9, 11:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m.; and “Trauma Informed Practice and Victimology” presented by Supervisory Special Agent Lori Heitman, Army CID, 1:15-4:30 p.m.

Intramural Sports Calendar

MWR Sports and Fitness office has released the 2015 Intramural and Recreation Sports Calendar.

Eligible participants for brigade, battalion and company level teams must be active duty military. Eligible participants for individual, women, co-ed and recreational teams must have a valid ID card and be at least age 18.

Ortho Clinic phone number

Blanchfield Army Community Hospital’s Orthopedic Clinic is currently undergoing renovations as part of the Patient Centered Medical Home expansion of the Young Eagle Medical Home. The phone lines at the Ortho Clinic’s reception desk have been reduced to one main line during the transition. Patients may reach the clinic at 270-798-8426. As an alternate, patients may call 270-461-2401.

No UNAUTHORIZED Boots

As per guidance from the division command sergeant major, no unauthorized boots will be allowed to be worn while in uniform on post. This is in accordance with AR 670-1. This also includes all students attending Air Assault and Pathfinder Schools. The regulation can be found at www.apd.army.mil/pdffiles/r670_1.pdf.

Sgt. Audie Murphy Club

The Sgt. Audie Murphy Club meets from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. the first Thursday of every month at the Oasis Dining Facility (5th Special Forces Group), 2991 Indiana Ave. The meetings are open to SAMC members stationed at Fort Campbell, as well as retired service members who are SAMC members.

GATE Access Change

All unescorted, non-Department of Defense ID card holding visitors, contractors, sub-contractors, vendors, suppliers and service providers must successfully pass a criminal background check before they are issued a visitor’s pass.

Escorted visitors with valid photo ID (state driver license, passport) traveling in the same vehicle as a DOD ID card holder (CAC, dependent ID card, retiree ID card) are not required to obtain a pass.

Unescorted visitors who are not traveling in the same vehicle as a DOD ID card holder (CAC, dependent ID card, retiree ID card) must obtain a visitor’s pass from a Visitor Control Center for the duration of their visit.

Contractors, sub-contractors, vendors, suppliers and service providers must obtain a one-day pass or may voluntarily choose to participate in the RAPIDGate program.

Visitor Control Center Hours of Operation:

Gate 4: Open 5 a.m.-9 p.m. daily.

Gate 7: Open 24 hours.

Retiree Council

If you want to help other retired Soldiers by assisting them with information about benefits and services available to the retired community, the Fort Campbell Retiree Council is actively recruiting for Army retirees (active, guard, reserve and disability retirement) to serve a four-year term on the council.

SRP Site Relocation

The Soldier Readiness Processing site at Dreyer Field House has relocated to 2702 Michigan Ave. This relocation consolidates most readiness, deployment and redeployment functions at one location in order to provide improved service.

Student Loans

President Obama signed an Executive Order that will automatically apply a 6 percent interest rate cap to eligible federal student loans under the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act.

The Executive Order extends this relief to all federal student loan borrowers. Service members with a federal student loan established before entering the military are no longer required to ask their student loan servicer for an interest rate reduction.

Borrowers with private student loans should still contact their student loan servicer to inquire how to obtain their SCRA benefits.
